Andrew Trant, Assistant Professor in the School of Environment, Resources, and Sustainability at the University of Waterloo. His work was featured in a recent article by Roberta Kwok in Nature on “Historical data hidden in the past.” Andrew was formerly a Postdoctoral Fellow at UVic, and began working with the Mountain Legacy image collections to understand treeline ecotone changes (among other things). There is a renaissance of interest in the interdisciplinary field of historical ecology, and this article picks up on this theme, and how projects such as Mountain Legacy play an important role in projecting future conditions.
