Nondescript
Distractions, originally uploaded by snapshotwill. Yesterday we were doing some more stations on the AB-BC border, and we were pleased to be outside in the sun. Where exactly? We did what we often do, we took a nondescript road, to an unremarkable valley, bushwhacked...
Digitize!
Stuart and I have been hiding from the rain at the Fire Centre in Calgary. We spend our days scanning images from the North Saskatchewan River. We have 3 scanners running, and we would have more but as you can see our office is minute. Off to Crowsnest tonight,...
Rain
From Environment Canada: "Rainfall warning for Crowsnest Pass - Pincher Creek - Waterton Lakes Nat. Park continued Upwards of 100 millimetres of rain is expected by Friday." Hopefully Saturday will be nice, and then we won't have to sit in the office and scan books...
Sunny Days
Sunny Days, originally uploaded by snapshotwill. Spent the afternoon on the sunny Ranchlands of the Cowboy Trail in Southern Alberta. A nice relaxing day after our vigorous scramble yesterday. I'm off to Victoria for a few days, Stuart is hanging out in Calgary, and...
Rockin
Rockin, originally uploaded by snapshotwill. We finally got to go up a real mountain today, and we are soooo happy. Very sunburnt, but happy. We summited Phillips Peak in the Crowsnest pass and took lots of pictures of each other (check the flickr group on the right.)...
Spring Ski
Spring Ski, originally uploaded by snapshotwill. We were excited to go back outside today after two days of rain. Our expectations were high to get a bunch of stations done since we scored a key and permit for our truck for a bunch of restricted roads. After several...
Punishment
Send, originally uploaded by snapshotwill. We finally took our first day off yesterday and went climbing at the Frank Slide. We had big plans for this week but were punished for having fun by torrential rain. No more fun allowed from now on.
Tick Tally
We are under siege by ticks. Today Stuart had 4, I had a measly 1. We have now had 9 between us in less than a week. Stuart just went outside with medical scissors to cut off all his hair. Also, apparently ticks are arachnids. Who knew? UPDATE: As of 10:09, July...
Off Roadin’
It is hard to tell from the picture, but Stuart was REALLY happy while driving today. We've been working in the Crowsnest pass, right on the divide. Getting up to the border markers involves a lot of navigating back roads, bushwacking, and playing 4x4. The weather is...
Shelter from the storm
Stuart and I are holed up in our emergency shelter waiting out the rain. As soon as it clears we can get back to work! We are right on the border and have a great view of Crowsnest Pass. What a first day.
